How about my favorite wine selections perfectly paired with decadent chocolate-dipped strawberries or creamy chocolate cheese cake?
Hello to my friends!
I am back from a long break of studying wine, training for a job and contemplating the next step in my crazy life. I am ready to get back to what I am passionate about~Sharing my love for wine pairings and Valentine’s Day is a great place to start!
I thought the best place to begin again is sharing with you my favorite Chocolate Pairing Wines. This is one of the most fun and satisfying pairings and it’s just-in-time for Valentine’s Day. Out of many favorites, here are three that I do believe you will enjoy pairing with that heart-shaped box of chocolates or a rich, decadent dessert from your favorite recipe.
Rosa Regale,an Italian sweet sparkling red wine from Northwest Italy’s region known as Peimonte,is a favorite for many with chocolate dessert wine pairings. The grape varietal is Brachetto and this enchanting pleasingly sweet sparkling wine is produced in the subregion called Brachetto D’acqui. Lightly effervescent, this wine is bursting with mouthwatering flavors of juicy strawberries, raspberries and delightful aromas of fresh red roses. This wine is a perfect match for rich chocolate and berry desserts such as light or dark chocolate dipped strawberries. The persistent frothiness from this wine pairs well with rich and creamy desserts topped with whipped cream, berries or cheesecake for two. Serve chilled!
Domaine La Tour Vielles Vendages Banyuls is almost magical when it comes to pairings with chocolate!
Banyuls is a fortified dessert wine from the Languedoc-Roussillon Region of Southern France where Grenache, the grape varietal in this wine, is the most widely planted grape in this region. This luscious wine is fortified with alcohol, similar to how Ports are made, which stops fermentation. The result is a intense, concentrated wine that delivers a mouthful of raspberries, blackberries, chocolate notes with balanced sweetness to its acidity equalling one of the most perfect wines for chocolate pairs ever! This amazing wine may be hard to find but it is SO worth the search! The flavors of chocolate in your favorite desserts along with fresh berries are magnified with this perfect match. Serve Chilled.
Wish for a wine that pairs as well with a rich chocolate dessert as well as with a spice-rubbed charcoal-grilled steak that you will be cooking for a special Valentine’s dinner? How about a classic old vine Zinfandel from Lodi,California. Deeply-colored and full-bodied Zinfandels, such as D’Art 2010 Hand Crafted Wines from the rich soils of Lodi will pair equally as well with your dessert as well as the steak you are serving. This bold wine with peppery notes and juicy dark berries coupled with hints of spices and vanilla stand up to and complement rich dark chocolate and berry desserts. You can enjoy the wine at the beginning of the meal as well as the end.
