Milam and Greene Whiskey Has Released its First Limited Edition Grain to Glass Bourbon

#cocktailswithlisa

There’s a tremendous amount of excitement swirling around the release of this limited edition first grain to glass straight bourbon whiskey. This is the first whiskey in the Hill Country Whiskey Series. This small batch pot distilled whiskey is handcrafted completely onsite at the distillery artfully made by the awesome whiskey team.

This first grain to glass whiskey is a limited edition and once it’s gone, it’s gone. But never fear, you’ll be able to add to your collection of your finest bourbons because this is just the first in the series of more handcrafted grain to glass whiskies to come from the talented whiskey makers at Milam & Greene.

Here’s how it gets its unique one-of-a-kind aromas and flavors for you to enjoy.

It is comprised of a mash bill of 70 percent corn, 22 percent malted rye and 8 percent malted barley. The proprietary yeast recipe is created by chief brewer and longest tenured distiller Jordan Osborne, Texan terroir and the careful selection of the casks. The result is a richer, heavier, high proof straight bourbon whiskey that will impress your every sip.

Flavors

The talented team of Marsha Milam, Heather Greene, Marlene Holmes and Jordan Osborne wanted to create a rich, robust bourbon whiskey with  classic bourbon flavors that will stand beside some of the finest bourbons in the world. The flavors are spicy, smooth, peppery and rich. The classic bourbon sweetness comes from the corn with balanced spice from the higher malted rye content. The malted rye  converts the starch to sugar better than other rye grains that they tested. This is where the peppery spiciness come from. And, the finish is smooth which is similar to a wheated bourbon.

This straight bourbon whiskey has become one of my new favorites in a growing line of Texas-made straight bourbon whiskies along our Texas Whiskey Trail. I have absolutely fallen in love with our Texas-made whiskies. The best part and probably the coolest part- so to speak-  is that because of the Texas heat we don’t have to wait long for a whiskey to hit the perfect maturation and is ready to drink with a few years rather than decades.

How to enjoy

For all you whiskey drinkers out there, I know I don’t have to tell you how to enjoy your whiskey but for those novice drinkers, straight is great! It drinks so smoothly and rich, you will enjoy every drop. For those who like an ice cube, the 60.9% abv can handle a cube and will help cool it off a bit without diluting the unique flavors. And, for those of us who like cocktails, this will be a prefect whiskey for a Whiskey Sour or Old Fashioned, two of my most favorite whiskey cocktails.
